Meet Janelle

Janelle was born and raised in Palmer, AK and continues to live in Alaska today with her husband and children.  Janelle loves spending time with family and friends, walking, hiking, reading, learning, and a good cup of coffee with cream.  She entered the field of counseling five years ago after staying home with her children for many years.

She received her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and her Graduate Degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University.  She is a Certified EMDR Therapist. 

She has experience working with children, adults, and families, in school, agency, and online settings.  Over the past few years she has provided individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and parenting courses.

Her focus is on the therapeutic relationship.  She offers hope and a kind and straightforward approach to encourage individual outcomes for each client. Janelle utilizes a client-centered, personalized, and supportive intervention strategy to help clients overcome the specific challenges in their lives.  

Janelle utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and others.  She has worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, past trauma, and other challenges.  She has a passion for working with individuals who desire increased self-esteem, overcoming past trauma, and developing healthy relationships through communication, connection, and boundaries in life.  She also enjoys working with adolescents as they take steps toward  adulthood.  She works with clients ages thirteen and up.

She is a firm believer that ‘your story matters’.  She is passionate about seeing individuals find wellness and freedom from the inside out.  She considers it a privilege to have the trust of clients and to support their growth as they begin to make steps that will help them improve their quality of life.  She is a skilled listener and considers herself a confidant, advocate, and resource.  She highly values connection, authenticity, bravery, and compassion.
