Meet Janelle

I was born and raised in Palmer, AK and continue to live in Alaska today with my husband and children.  I love spending time with family and friends, walking, reading, learning, and a good cup of coffee with cream.  I entered the field of counseling five years ago after staying home with my children for many years.

I received her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and my Masters Degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University.  I am a Certified EMDR Therapist.

I have experience working with children, adults, and families, in school, agency, and online settings.  Over the past few years I have provided individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy,  parenting courses, and supervision.

My focus is on the therapeutic relationship.  I offer hope and a kind and straightforward approach to encourage individual outcomes for each client. I utilize a client-centered, personalized, and supportive intervention strategy to help clients overcome the specific challenges in their lives.

I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).  I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and other challenges.  I have a passion for working with individuals who desire increased self-esteem, overcoming past trauma, and developing healthy relationships through communication, connection, and boundaries in life.  I also enjoy working with adolescents as they take steps toward adulthood.  I work with clients ages fifteen and up.

I am a firm believer that ‘your story matters’.  I am passionate about seeing individuals find wellness and freedom from the inside out.  I consider it a privilege to have the trust of clients and to support their growth as they begin to make steps to improve their quality of life.  I understand the value of listening and consider myself a confidant, advocate, and resource.  I highly value connection, authenticity, bravery, and compassion.
